How soon can I have my interlock installed?
--In most cases we can install the Intoxalock in your vehicle within 48 hours. Same day service is often available.
Will the interlock turn my car off while I’m driving?
--No, with the Intoxalock brand device it is impossible for the interlock to turn off your vehicle. If you do turn your car off or if your car stalls you have 2-minutes to restart your car.
How much do they cost?
--There are a number of factors that can determine the cost of your interlock program. Depending on the number of vehicles you want installed, the frequency of required court reporting, the length of time that you need the interlock. Interlock Northwest offers our customers the greatest value in ignition interlock service. Will my interlock be installed quickly and what about the care of my vehicle?
-- Install on most vehicles takes less than 1-hour. Motorcycles and commercial vehicles do take longer. The installation is done by trained professionals and without any damage or permanent alterations to you vehicle. We do not drill holes in your dash, or mount the interlock near the steering wheel.
Where are you located?
--We have numerous installation centers throughout the state as well as a mobile service in many areas that can come to your home or work.
How visible is the Intoxalock?
-- The intoxalock is about the size of a large cell phone. It is easily held in your hand when blowing and can be placed out of site when the vehicle is not running.
Will you notify the Court and/or DOL?
--Yes, we will notify the ordering court as well as the Department of Licensing that the interlock has been installed and you are in compliance with your interlock order. We’re on your side to ensure complete compliance with your court or DOL order.
Where do I go to recalibrate and download my Intoxalock?
-- Driving to one of our service centers is one option for your 60-day calibration. We also offer at-home service or our Direct EXchange service. Using the Intoxalocks’ unique DEX service, calibration can be provided through the mail almost anywhere in the United States. This feature of the Intoxalock brand device allows the user freedom to vacation and to travel even with the interlock in their vehicle.
Does the vehicle have to be in my name?
--The interlock can be installed in any vehicle as long as we have the consent of the owner.
Do I have to blow into the device every ten minutes?
--No, Washington State law requires that after the initial blow to start the vehicle, the driver must submit another test, called a rolling re-test, within the first ten minutes of driving, then intermittently within the hour. These tests are very easy to do and are generally done while driving. If you feel more comfortable, you do have time to pull to the side of the road and complete the 5-second test.
Can other people still drive my car?
--Yes, other people can drive your car, though the Intoxalock will still need to be blown into in order for the vehicle to operate.
